About POGO's Federal Contractor Misconduct Database (FCMD)
The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Los Alamos National Security LLC
Los Alamos National Security LLC (LANS) is a joint venture consisting of Bechtel National, University of California, the Babcock and Wilcox Company, and the Washington Division of URS that took over management of Los Alamos National Laboratory in June 2006. The laboratory, one of three National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) nuclear weapons laboratories, performs sensitive national security missions, including helping to manage and secure the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile.

1. Failure to Install a Groundwater Monitoring Network at LANL
In November 2009, the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) fined the Department of Energy and Los Alamos National Security LLC (LANS) $960,000 for failing to install a groundwater radioactive contamination monitoring network and provide adequate data for the Los Alamos lab’s main waste management area, as had been required under an order for corrective measures evaluation report.... more»
