The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Michelle Doggett, a former manager at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, settled a whistleblower retaliation lawsuit with the University of California. Doggett claimed she was mistreated for telling supervisors and investigators of improper charges being made to energy research accounts in the 1990s. As part of the settlement, Doggett was paid approximately $33,000 in wages, $264,000 for medical and physical sickness expenses, and unspecified damages in the amount of $264,000.
