Synopsis: Northrop Grumman paid $12.5 million to settle False Claims Act allegations that, from November 1998 until February 2007, Northrop’s Navigation Systems Division failed to test commercial-grade electronic components to ensure that they would function at the extreme temperatures required for military and space uses. The components were being manufactured for the Navy, Army, Air Force, Defense Logistics Agency, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Coast Guard and the Forest Service for use in airplane, helicopter, submarine and space equipment navigation systems.
