In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Washington residents who bought Dell Inspiron laptop computers filed a class- action lawsuit alleging that Dell violated state consumer protection law by designing, manufacturing, and selling defective laptop computers beginning in or around July 2003. The alleged defects affect the computers’ cooling systems, power supplies, batteries and motherboards. The parties reached a preliminary settlement in June 2010.
