About POGO's Federal Contractor Misconduct Database (FCMD)
The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Alliant Techsystems agreed to pay $1.3 million in civil restitution to settle allegations that it failed to provide U.S. Army contract negotiators with the most current, complete and accurate cost and pricing data for the purchase of AT-4 Light Anti-Armor weapons. The complaint alleged that negotiators were not notified that Alliant was changing from a two- to a one-piece muzzle cover, which should have resulted in a substantial reduction in cost to the government.
