In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Former AT&T employee Mary-Jo Hyldahl suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression, the treatment of which required her to take more than 400 hours of leave from her job under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) between 2001 and 2006. AT&T fired her in January 2007 for “FMLA fraud.” A jury determined that AT&T interfered with Hyldahl’s rights under the FMLA. She was awarded over $500,000 in back pay, damages, and attorney fees.
