The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Patricia Sparks, a former Fluor Hanford, Inc. employee, agreed to pay the federal government $5,500 after being accused of accepting kickbacks. Sparks, a purchaser for Fluor Hanford under a contract to operate and manage the Department of Energy’s Hanford Nuclear Site, was accused of accepting gifts from an area vendor named Shane Fast, owner of former Hanford subcontractor Fast Pipe and Supply Co, Inc., in exchange for favorable treatment.
