The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Plaintiffs, firefighters in Iraq and Afghanistan, allege KBR and Wackenhut Services deprived them of compensation, including in-country pay, danger pay, on-call pay, up-lift pay, overtime, and other benefits under the U.S. Army’s Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) contract from 2005 to the present. (According to the complaint, a class action arbitration brought in this matter resulted in a settlement in which claimants who did not opt out received approximately $1,500 each.)
