About POGO's Federal Contractor Misconduct Database (FCMD)
The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: “The Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP)… announced it… reached a $625,000 settlement with the [University of California-operated] Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) resulting from an investigation of discrimination against Hispanic workers in a 1995 layoff at the Los Alamos, New Mexico facility...OFCCP made an initial finding that Los Alamos failed to follow its own layoff criteria, which resulted in Hispanic employees being terminated at a statistically significant higher rate.”
