About POGO's Federal Contractor Misconduct Database (FCMD)
The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: The “Justice Department alleged that the University's Art History Department discriminated against [Maribeth] Graybill by denying her tenure based on her gender, in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It also said the school retaliated against Graybill for opposing the school's employment practices.” "Under the agreement, the Art History Department agrees not to discriminate against any candidate for tenure based on sex. Additionally, the University will pay Graybill $113,098, not retaliate against any person who has opposed practices which that person believes are discriminatory or who assisted in the investigation of the case, and provide information to the Justice Department about its efforts to comply with the agreement."
