The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Oberts “sustained a cervical spine injury during his employment with [McDonnell Douglas Services, a Boeing subsidiary] on October 28, 1997.” Pursuant to the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, he sought benefits for his medical expenses. On January 18, 2005, the Department of Labor administrative law judge held MDS liable for Oberts' disability benefits. In February 2006, an administrative appeals court vacated the administrative law judge's awarding of benefits to Oberts. The case is currently on appeal.
