In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Incidents in August and December 1996 at the Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico led to a Department of Energy investigation that concluded “that violations of the Occupational Radiation Protection Rule (10 CFR 835) occurred.” A Preliminary Notice of Violation (PNOV) was issued to the Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin subsidiary, on August 14, 1997 and the department assessed a $56,250 civil penalty for the August violation, during which three workers were exposed to radiation.
