The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: A federal jury found in favor of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Marion Shaub in their lawsuit against FedEx for violations of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The jury found FedEx liable for a sex-based hostile work environment and retaliation and awarded Shaub $391,400 in back pay and front pay, $350,000 in compensatory damages for emotional pain and distress, and $2.5 million dollars in punitive damages.
