The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: During fiscal year 2005, the U.S. District Court in Delaware rendered a judgment against the Shaw Group and in favor of Saudi American Bank for $6.7 million. Saudi American Bank claimed that, as part of the acquisition of Stone & Webster in July 2000, the Shaw Group had assumed the estate company’s liability under a loan agreement and guarantee. The Shaw Group appealed the judgment.
