About POGO's Federal Contractor Misconduct Database (FCMD)
The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: Exelon Nuclear terminated Wackenhut Nuclear Security’s contract to manage security forces at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station in York County, PA after an internal investigation into Wackenhut security officers sleeping or otherwise being inattentive at the station. Videos showed security officers nodding off or sleeping in a "ready room," which is not allowed at any time. A ready room is an assembly room that is sometimes used as a break room. Exelon is cooperating with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the matter and has brought in outside experts to participate in the internal investigation underway at all ten of Exelon Nuclear's operating nuclear energy sites.
