Synopsis: An explosion and fire occurring on March 23, 2005 at BP Products’ Texas City refinery killed 15 and injured hundreds. The incident led to more than 3,000 lawsuits. BP, which has settled approximately half of those claims, agreed in September 2007 to settle the claims of four victims that were the first to go to trial. The terms were not disclosed. BP has not disclosed the settlement terms of any of the Texas City cases other than a $38 million donation to schools and hospitals in a case involving a plaintiff whose parents died in the explosion.
