The government awards contracts to companies with histories of misconduct such as contract fraud and environmental, ethics, and labor violations. In the absence of a centralized federal database listing instances of misconduct, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is providing such data. We believe that it will lead to improved contracting decisions and public access to information about how the government spends hundreds of billions of taxpayer money each year on goods and services. Synopsis: New Jersey State Superior Court Judge Ross Anzaldi ruled that ExxonMobil was liable for causing a public nuisance by polluting the waterways, wetlands and marshes on and near its former refinery sites in Bayonne and Linden. The court in the natural resource damage lawsuit filed on behalf of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection found that ExxonMobil contaminated both sites through active disposal and accidental spilling of hazardous substances, causing damages in an amount that will be determined at a later trial.
