Engility formed in 2012 when L-3 Communications spun off five of its government services businesses, including its MPRI (Military Professional Resources, Inc.) unit. Engility provides a myriad of support services, including systems engineering and software development, program management, defense-related education, training and staffing, field management and logistics, and language translation services. In September 2018, it was announced that Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) agreed to acquire Engility for $2.5 billion.
