Failure to Install a Groundwater Monitoring Network at LANL

In November 2009, the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) fined the Department of Energy and Los Alamos National Security LLC (LANS) $960,000 for failing to install a groundwater radioactive contamination monitoring network and provide adequate data for the Los Alamos lab’s main waste management area, as had been required under an order for corrective measures evaluation report.
