Garner v. BP Amoco Chemical (April 2007 Texas City Chemical Leak)
A Texas jury awarded over $100.3 million in damages to ten BP employees who claimed they were injured in April 2007 at BP’s Texas City plant. They claimed they were exposed to toxic chemicals while repairing two refining units damaged in a plant-wide 2005 shutdown and that BP had a poorly maintained workplace and lacked sufficient monitoring to detect toxic chemicals or warn workers of a release.
