Whiting, Ind. Refinery Clean Air Act Violations
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reached an agreement with BP Products North America Inc. over alleged Clean Air Act violations at the company’s petroleum refinery in Whiting, Indiana, with BP agreeing to pay almost $60,000. EPA alleged that BP discharged more than twice as much lead and cadmium from its hazardous waste incinerator during a test in March 2004 than is allowed by the Clean Air Act.
