Brown v. Lockheed Martin (Whistleblower Retaliation)
Andrea Brown, former director of communications for Lockheed Martin in Colorado Springs, filed a whistleblower complaint against the company in 2008 under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act alleging she had been retaliated against for reporting that her boss was misusing the company’s pen pal program with the U.S. Army and mischarging the government. In January 2010, a Department of Labor administrative law judge ruled in Brown’s favor and ordered Lockheed to reinstate her and compensate her for back pay and benefits. The judge also awarded Brown $75,000 in damages plus attorney fees.
