Advanced Internet Technologies v. Dell (Defective Desktop Computers)
Advanced Internet Technologies, Inc. (AIT) accused Dell of knowingly selling AIT defective OptiPlex desktop computers. AIT claimed that Dell knew its OptiPlex computers had significant problems with the motherboard, power supply, and central processing unit fan that caused overheating, crashes, and lost data. In September 2010, it was reported that Dell and AIT had reached a tentative settlement. Details of the final settlement will not be publicly released.
