June 2009 Washington Metro Crash Litigation
A June 2009 collision involving two Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) subway trains killed nine and injured more than 80. Negligence and wrongful death lawsuits were filed against several defendants including ARINC, which provided WMATA with train traffic control equipment, including a safety warning system called the Advanced Information Management (AIM) system. The plaintiffs allege that the AIM system had been disabled at the time of the collision because it did not function properly.
