Yellowstone River Oil Spill Lawsuit
A class action lawsuit accuses Exxon Mobil of negligently causing an oil spill in the Yellowstone River in July 2011, when Exxon’s Silvertip pipeline burst and spilled approximately 1,200 barrels of oil into the river near Billings, Montana. In January 2015, it was reported that Exxon agreed to pay $2 million to settle the lawsuit.
