Breach of New Zealand Fair Trading Act

GE Money, the consumer finance division General Electric, made a $60,000 donation to the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services after admitting to a breach of the Fair Trading Act occurring in October 2011. The New Zealand government found GEs direct mail, print, and radio advertising campaign inviting consumers to consolidate their loans into one new loan to be repaid over a longer period of time was false and misleading.
