Commonwealth v. Papadopoulos (Fraudulent Overbilling)
Former URS Corporation employee George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to larceny and procurement fraud and was sentenced to serve four to five years in prison and five years of probation. The Massachusetts Attorney General alleged that Papadopoulos, who worked as the project manager at URS on a contract to renovate Logan International Airport, defrauded the Massachusetts Port Authority (“Massport”) of more than $1.3 million by submitting hundreds of false and inflated invoices. In January 2012, URS Corporation paid the Commonwealth $3.3 million to resolve those allegations (see URS Corporation instance “Fraudulent Overbilling in the Renovation of Logan Airport”).
