Termination of Canadian Diabetes Registry Contract
In September 2012, it was reported that eHealth Ontario, the province’s electronic health records agency, terminated a contract with CGI Information Systems and Management Consultants (a subsidiary of CGI Group) to set up a diabetes registry. A resolution passed by the eHealth board of directors earlier that month had recommended terminating the CAN$46.2 million contract, a six-year contract awarded in August 2010 to design, build, and maintain an electronic data registry to monitor diabetes patients. eHealth claimed that CGI had regularly missed development deadlines, and that the resulting delays rendered the system obsolete.
