False Claims on USTRANSCOM Contract

Maersk Line Limited paid the federal government $8.7 million to settle allegations that it failed to fully comply with the terms of its contract with the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) to transport cargo to military outposts in Afghanistan. USTRANSCOM discovered that the signatures on some claims Maersk submitted to the government were forged. USTRANSCOM’s review found 277 instances of false claims.
