Spain Asphalt Cartel
It was reported that the European Union’s General Tribunal upheld CEPSA’s fine for fixing prices for asphalt from 1991 to 2002. CEPSA was ordered to pay 83.8 million euros (US$107 million) plus legal fees. In 2007, European Union regulators fined CEPSA and three other companies 183.7 million euros for fixing domestic prices for bitumen, used to make asphalt.
