Collusion to Fix Prices of Military Oil
In December 2009, a South Korean appellate court ordered the country’s top four domestic refiners, including S-Oil Corporation, to pay the government the equivalent of approximately $168.5 million in damages for allegedly colluding to set the prices of oil products sold to the South Korean military. The fine stemmed from a lawsuit the Defense Ministry filed in 2001 alleging the price collusion occurring between 1998 and 2000.
