California Labor Law Violations

Several former SpaceX employees filed lawsuits alleging the company violated California labor laws by denying workers meal and rest breaks and making them work off the clock without compensation. They claimed SpaceX imposed shift and break schedules that shortened or failed to provide for meal and rest breaks, did not compensate for time lost when hours worked were rounded down to the nearest 15-minute increment, and did not provide employees with some of the tools required to do their work and did not reimburse them for tools purchased by the workers. SpaceX settled the litigation in August 2016, agreeing to pay 4,100 employees approximately $4 million.
