Aviles et al v. BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair (Sex Discrimination)
A lawsuit filed on behalf of women employed by BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair since October 2007 alleged that the company discriminated against them by denying them equal pay and allowing a hostile work environment. In August 2015, the parties filed a preliminary settlement agreement with the court. Under the agreement, BAE did not admit any liability and agreed to pay $3 million to current and former non-management female employees hired between October 2007 and December 2014. BAE agreed to pay an additional $1.15 million in attorney fees and expenses and additional payments to some employees.
