Migratory Bird Treaty Act Violations
Battelle Memorial Institute agreed to pay the federal government $96,800 to settle criminal allegations of violations of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act by causing the destruction of bank swallow nests and eggs near the Hanford Nuclear Site in Washington State in 2010. Battelle accepted responsibility and paid the money to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
