Failure to Negotiate in Good Faith With SPEEA
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) found that Boeing failed to negotiate in good faith with the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) when it refused to provide evidence to substantiate its claim regarding wage rates in the Puget Sound, Washington area. During contract negotiations between Boeing and SPEEA in 2012, a Boeing official told the media that its employees in the Puget Sound area cost more than employees in other regions. The company did not provide information to support this claim as requested by SPEEA. The NLRB administrative law judge found that Boeing’s failure to provide the information “undermined and tainted the bargaining process” and violated the National Labor Relations Act.
