Settlement of Hanford Waste Management Violations
The Washington State Department of Ecology entered into a settlement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Company to resolve violations of state waste management regulations at the Hanford Nuclear Site. Inspectors found the violations during inspections at the Central Waste Complex (CWC) and Waste Receiving and Processing Facility (WRAP) in 2012. DOE agreed to pay a $261,000 penalty, of which all but $15,000 was suspended pending completion of corrective actions.
