York v. DynCorp (Breach of Contract)

Gerald York sued DynCorp International, claiming the company owed him more than $5 million as part of a “retention bonus” he was promised when DynCorp hired him in 2009. DynCorp refused to pay the bonus after York was fired in 2011 because it claimed that he violated company policy, and thus voided the retention bonus agreement, by keeping a gun in his office. In October 2012, a Virginia state court found in York’s favor and awarded him $5.1 million plus interest.
