August 2013 Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality Settlement

Four ExxonMobil facilities in Baton Rouge, Louisiana agreed to pay nearly $2.4 million in fines, penalties, environmental projects, and internal improvements as part of a settlement with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The settlement involved a June 2012 release of naptha (a mixture of hydrocarbons) at its Baton Rouge chemical facility, for which Exxon paid a $61,912 penalty, and numerous other pollution incidents occurring at the facilities between 2008 and 2013.
