LeBlanc v. Exxon Mobil (Defective Fuel)
A lawsuit claimed ExxonMobil negligently produced and shipped more than 5 million gallons of defective gasoline from its Baton Rouge, Louisiana refinery that caused some customers to experience problems with their vehicles. Two batches of bad regular unleaded gasoline produced at the terminal between March 12 and March 15, 2014 caused the affected purchasers to experience problems with their intake and valve systems. Exxon blamed the problem on an “atypical variation” in the fuel. The lawsuit settled in 2016.
