Hazardous Materials Violation – Austin, TX
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed a $65,000 civil penalty on FedEx for an alleged violation of the Hazardous Materials Regulations. The FAA alleged that in January 2014, a FedEx employee in Austin, Texas improperly accepted a cardboard box containing two one-gallon cans of paint for shipment by air aboard a FedEx aircraft. During transit, one of the cans leaked. The employee who accepted the shipment failed to inspect the package as required by regulations.
