U.S.v. Hightower (FOB Fenty Fuel Theft Scheme)
Former Fluor employee Jonathan Hightower pleaded guilty to accepting bribes to facilitate the theft of military fuel in Afghanistan in 2010. Hightower worked as a petroleum supply specialist at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Fenty and was responsible for receiving and disbursing fuel for use at the base or for transport to other military bases in Afghanistan. The government alleged that Hightower, along with several Army personnel, accepted cash bribes from an Afghan trucking company in exchange for allowing the company to steal approximately 125 truckloads of fuel (worth more than $2.2 million) from the base.
