Restraining Competition in Taiwan
Dell’s Taiwan-based subsidiary was fined NT$2 million (US$65,600) by Taiwan’s Fair Trade Commission for taking action to restrain competition. According to media accounts, Dell Taiwan violated fair trade rules pertaining to causing another enterprise to discontinue supply, purchase or other business transactions with a particular enterprise for the purpose of injuring that enterprise. In 2013, Dell Taiwan asked a local distributor of SonicWALL, an anti-virus program developed by Dell, not to supply the product to the southern region branch of Chunghwa Telecom Company.
