Contaminated Drug Ingredients at Ireland Plant
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning letter to GlaxoSmithKline regarding the company’s corrective actions in response to findings of contamination at its manufacturing plant in Cork, Ireland. The FDA found that GSK did not fully investigate a list of violations found during an FDA inspection of the plant in October 2013, and that the company did not notify the public when some batches of a drug or drugs containing a contaminated ingredient were shipped.
