Bridgestone Americas v. IBM (Back-Office IT System Overhaul)
Tire manufacturer Bridgestone alleged that IBM breached a 2009 contract to upgrade Bridgestone’s companywide invoicing, order management, delivery, and accounting IT system. Bridgestone claimed that after more than two years and $74 million, IBM delivered a defective system. Bridgestone alleged breach of contract, misrepresentation, gross negligence and fraud, and sought more than $200 million in damages (tripled under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act). In June 2018, it was reported that both parties reached a settlement.
