Kingston, TN Superfund Site Cleanup Class Action
A class-action lawsuit accuses Jacobs Engineering Group of knowingly exposing workers to toxic chemicals at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) KIF Superfund cleanup site in Kingston, Tennessee. The plaintiffs attribute their health problems to exposure to various hazardous substances at the site, including arsenic, mercury, asbestos, lead, and silica. In November 2018, a federal jury found in favor of the plaintiffs, finding that Jacobs failed to adhere to its contract with TVA, failed to “exercise reasonable care” in keeping workers safe, and caused the workers’ injuries and illnesses. Phase two of the trial—determination of monetary damages—is scheduled for 2019.
