Balderrama v. Lockheed Martin (Retaliatory Firing)
Vincent Balderrama was fired by Lockheed Martin in November 2013 after complaining about a discriminatory performance review. Balderrama’s supervisor rated him among the bottom 10 percent of employees for 2012 even though he closed Lockheed’s only sale of helicopters to a foreign client during that year. He claimed the company took actions against him that were not taken against non-Hispanic employees. A Maryland jury awarded Balderrama $830,000 in damages.
