Dept. of Labor Inspector General Audit of Paul Simon Job Corps Center
The Department of Labor Inspector General (DOL IG) conducted and audit of the Paul Simon Job Corps Center, which is operated by Management & Training Corporation (MTC). The IG found that MTC did not ensure that best value was received by the government when awarding sub-contracts and purchase orders. The IG questioned approximately $1.3 million in costs because MTC did not comply with its own SOPs (standard operating procedures), and because neither DOL Employment and Training Administration personnel nor Job Corps staff adequately monitored MTC’s sub-contracting procurement activities. The IG recommended that the government recover the questioned costs and to strengthen procurement procedures, training, and oversight.
