U.S. ex rel. Fox v. McKesson (CDC Contract False Claims)
McKesson agreed to pay the federal government $18 million to resolve allegations that it improperly set temperature monitors used in shipping vaccines under a contract with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The government alleged that, for several months in 2007, McKesson failed to set the electronic temperature monitors at the proper temperature range, and thereby knowingly submitted false claims to CDC for shipping and handling services. As part of the agreement, McKesson also paid $525,000 in attorney fees.
