Sleaford Plant Safety Breaches
Britain’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE) fined three construction companies, including Shaw Group UK Ltd, after a worker at the Sleaford Renewable Energy plant was crushed by a falling section of conveyor in February 2013. Shaw Group employee Michael Doyle suffered multiple injuries when a 4.5 ton conveyor section overturned during installation. Shaw Group had been subcontracted to install the conveyor system. HSE found safety failings by all three companies. Shaw Group was fined a total of £17,350 [US$25,993] and ordered to pay costs of £1,710 [US$2,561] after pleading guilty to breaching various health and safety regulations.
