U.S. ex rel. Patzer v. United Technologies, et al. (Aircraft Parts Overbilling)
Mary Patzer alleges that Derco Aerospace and its parent and sister companies, Sikorsky Aircraft and Sikorsky Support Services, respectively, overbilled the U.S. Navy by nearly $50 million for aircraft parts between July 2006 and September 2010, in violation of the False Claims Act. Patzer, a former financial analyst and assistant controller at Derco, alleges that Derco and Sikorsky submitted falsely inflated bills to the Navy for parts and materials. She claims that the companies hid an unauthorized 20 percent markup in their billing statements. Patzer also claims retaliatory discharge based on her whistleblower activities. The government intervened in the lawsuit in 2014.
